Details say that a juvenile was in a Hyundai Santa Fe that was going eastbound along the highway. While doing so, at the Grand Avenue intersection, police say that a tractor-trailer with a milk tanker turned onto eastbound lanes from northbound Grand. Some time during this turn, the Hyundai crashed with the tractor-trailer.

As a result of the collision, the juvenile driver had to be airlifted from the scene. Their exact injuries weren't specified. There were no other reported injuries. Images of the intersection, if up to date and accurate, show that traffic along the highway does not have a stop sign while the intersecting roads do. Police did not say publicly in initial reports who had the right-of-way at the time of the crash.
