Rosanto Villarreal, Woman Injured in Truck Accident in Zavala County, TX

Zavala County, TX — July 23, 2023, Rosanto Villarreal and an unidentified woman were injured after a truck accident at around 5:07 p.m. along U.S. 57.

According to public information from authorities, the incident took place in the area of U.S. Highway 57 and F.M. 117.

Investigators said that 58-year-old Rosanto Villarreal and an unidentified 57-year-old woman were in a Lincoln Navigator that was traveling eastbound along the highway. Authorities say that a westbound tractor-trailer lost control, causing it to careen left of center and into the path of Villarreal's vehicle. The two vehicles collided and went off-road as a result.

Details suggest that Villarreal and the passenger in the Lincoln both had incapacitating injuries. There were no other reported injuries. At this time, statements suggest the truck may have lost control due to strong winds, however this can't be confirmed right now. There were no reported citations or charges, and additional factors are unclear pending investigations.
