Child Killed, Dozens Injured in Bus Accident on Highway 41 in Clark County, OH

Clark County, OH — August 22, 2023, one child was killed and dozens were injured following a school bus accident at 8:16 a.m. along Highway 41.

According to local news outlets, emergency response teams were called out to the area of the crash on Ohio Highway 41 off the corner of Lawrenceville Drive, which is north of Dayton in German Township.

Current statements about the crash say that it involved a Northwestern Local School District bus that had been going along Highway 41. From the oncoming lane of travel, authorities claim a Honda Odyssey minivan somehow went left of center and side-swiped the school bus. Afterward, the bus ran off-road where it then overturned.

As a result of the rollover, details say one child was thrown from the bus. That child lost their life due to the accident. Approximately 22 other children were taken to the hospital along with the bus driver, Alfred Collier, and two others from the minivan. Those injuries were described as either minor or non-life-threatening.

Currently, the cause of the accident is still under investigation. No charges or citations have been reported pending the investigations.
