5 Injured in Loose Trailer Accident on U.S. 70 in Princeton, NC

Princeton, NC — August 22, 2023, five people were injured due to a loose trailer accident at around noon along U.S. Highway 70.

Authorities said that the incident happened along both directions of travel. Details at this time suggest the incident involved a vehicle pulling a trailer that was hauling a boom lift. Somehow, it appears the trailer came loose, careened into oncoming lanes, then collided with two westbound vehicles.

As a result of the incident, at least five people were injured. One of those people was said to have critical injuries due to the incident. Victims have not been publicly identified.

It's unclear what led to the trailer coming loose. Right now, it's unclear if there were any charges or citations resulting from the accident. Investigations are ongoing.
