Johnny Rey Hernandez Killed in Car Accident in Scurry County, TX

Scurry County, TX — August 20, 2023, Johnny Rey Hernandez was killed in a car accident on the north Highway 84 access road in Scurry County, TX.

Authorities indicate that on August 20, a fatal accident occurred when, for unknown reasons, a Dodge heading north on Highway 84 suddenly drove off the road and hit a traffic sign. Police say the Dodge flipped over along FM 1673 and burst into flames. The crash happened sometime before 6:30 in the morning in Scurry County.

Officials confirmed the Dodge driver, 24-year-old Johnny Rey Hernandez, suffered fatal injuries in the collision. No other injuries were reported, and no other vehicles were said to be involved.

Authorities are continuing to investigate the events that led to the crash.
