Man Killed in Alleged Hit-and-run Accident on Wendover Boulevard in West Wendover, NV

West Wendover, NV — August 21, 2023, a man was fatally injured due to a semi-truck accident that happened at around 3:50 a.m. on Wendover Boulevard.

Preliminary information released in the news indicates that authorities were called out to the area of I-80 exit 410 at the intersection of Wendover Boulevard and Florence Way.

According to current statements, it appears that a 26-year-old man (unidentified at this time) was walking at the time. While reportedly in a crosswalk, authorities say the man was hit by a semi-truck. That semi-truck was said to be turning left off of Wendover Boulevard to go toward the interstate access road. After the collision, authorities allege the truck continued driving and left the scene.

Based on claims by officials to local media outlets, it appears that the victim may have been dragged from the point of impact to the interstate on-ramp. As a result, the victim was pronounced deceased on the scene. Some time following the crash, it appears Nevada State Police arrested the alleged runaway truck driver roughly 180 miles away near Battle Mountain. Potential charges and additional details are currently unconfirmed.
