16-year-old Injured in Truck Accident on South Street in Newkirk, OK

Newkirk, OK — August 21, 2023, a teenager was seriously injured due to a semi-truck accident at around 12:14 p.m. along W. South Street.

In details provided by local media outlets, it appears the incident happened near Newkirk High School at South Street (U.S. 77) and Academy. Images show the 18-wheeler involved parked off-road outside Apple Market.

Right now, statements in local reports say that a 16-year-old Newkirk High School student was in a crosswalk at the South Street and Academy intersection. While there, due to factors unconfirmed right now, it appears a tractor-trailer hit the girl.

As a result of the collision, the teen girl sustained injuries which were described as serious. Medical response teams flew her from the scene to a hospital.
