Matthew Jacobs Jr. Killed, One Injured in Dump Truck Accident on Route 553 in Fairfield Township, NJ

Fairfield Township, NJ — August 11, 2023, Matthew Jacobs Jr. was killed, and one was injured in a truck accident on Route 553 at the Cohansey River in Fairfield Township, NJ.

Authorities indicate that on August 11, a fatal accident occurred when a dump truck heading south on Route 553 suddenly left the roadway and broke through the guardrail. According to reports, the truck plunged into the Cohansey River.

Officials confirmed that the truck driver, 60-year-old Matthew Jacobs Jr., was killed in the accident. A passenger in the truck escaped the quickly-submerging vehicle but suffered injuries. The passenger was taken to an area hospital for medical attention.

No other injuries were reported. No additional information was released.

The investigation is ongoing.
