Officials said in their statements that 72-year-old Candido Uribe was in a Dodge Dakota that had reportedly just exited a driveway to travel eastbound on U.S. 82. While doing so, it appears the Dakota was hit by a Hyundai Genesis which details suggest may have been going at around 90 MPH.

As a result of the high-speed crash, Uribe sustained injuries which ultimately proved to be fatal. It does not appear that the Hyundai driver was hurt. Authorities say they administered a toxicology test on the Hyundai driver, however there are no published results at this time. Investigations are ongoing.
