Two Injured in Truck Accident on Ohio Turnpike in Swanton Township, OH

Swanton Township, OH — August 17, 2023, two people were injured following a semi-truck accident at around 5:03 a.m. along the Ohio Turnpike.

According to initial details released by authorities, the incident happened along the westbound lanes of I-80/I-90 near mile marker 51.

It appears the crash involved two commercial trucks. Details at this time say that a Kenworth semi-trailer was slowing along westbound lanes due to traffic. While slowing, police say that a Volvo tractor-trailer did not slow down in time and crashed into the back of the Kenworth. The collision sent both vehicles off-road where they then overturned.

As a result of the crash, two people in the Volvo were taken to an area hospital with injuries which were said to be serious. The driver of the Kenworth was said to have minor injuries but apparently was not transported to a hospital for treatment. Right now, further information cannot be confirmed pending investigations.
