William Wegner Killed in Bicyclist Accident in Dayton, TX

Dayton, TX — July 13, 2023, William Wegner was fatally injured as the result of a bicyclist accident at around 9:45 p.m. along Highway 146.

Officials released preliminary information about the accident saying that it happened in the area of the Highway 146 and F.M. 1413 intersection.

According to investigations, 41-year-old William Wegner was on a bicycle going along the highway at the time. Due to their findings, officials believe that a Dodge Ram truck hit Wegner, throwing him into the roadside ditch, where they found Wegner upon arrival.

As a result of the collision, Wegner succumbed to fatal injuries. There were no other reported injuries. Authorities mentioned one possible factor as the driver of the Dodge having had alcohol. However, there is no confirmation on if the driver was legally intoxicated or whether authorities were considering charges. Investigations are ongoing.
