5-year-old Injured in Bus Accident at Lamar Elementary in Mineral Wells, TX

Mineral Wells, TX — August 15, 2023, a 5-year-old sustained injuries as the result of a school bus accident at around 7:30 a.m. at Lamar Elementary School.

According to information about the accident made available to local news outlets, the incident occurred outside the school, which is located at 2012 SE 12th Street just off SE 22nd Avenue.

Right now, the exact circumstances surrounding the incident are still under investigations. Authorities said in their statements that a 5-year-old had just exited the bus as school was about to start. After getting off the bus, however, the bus somehow hit the child as it began to roll forward.

Due to this incident, the child was taken to Cook Children's Medical Center. The severity of the child's injuries wasn't specified, however details say the child was flown from the scene. No one else was hurt, according to current information. Authorities continue to investigate the factors surrounding the accident.
