Mary Washington Killed in Garbage Truck Accident off Gessner Road in Houston, TX

UPDATE (August 28, 2023): Details from authorities identified the woman killed in the accident as Mary Washington. The incident is still under investigation at this time.

Houston, TX — August 15, 2023, a woman was killed following a garbage truck accident early Tuesday in a parking lot along Gessner Road.

Investigations released by the Houston Fire Department indicate that the incident took place at approximately 4:55 a.m. in the parking lot of a restaurant off the corner of Gessner Road and Bamboo Road.

According to current information, it appears a woman may have been lying down in the parking lot that was apparently unlit. A garbage truck entered the lot and was traveling through the lot when it apparently ran over the woman.

As a result of the incident, the woman sustained fatal injuries. That person has not been publicly identified at this time. Authorities say the driver remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators. There are no additional details available at this time.
