Latonya Kizart Killed, Garland Kizart Injured in Truck Accident in Kingston Springs, TN

Kingston Springs, TN — August 11, 2023, Latonya Kizart was killed and Garland Kizart was injured following a semi-truck accident around 7:45 a.m. along I-40.

Preliminary details released by the Tennessee Highway Patrol say that the fatal accident happened along eastbound lanes of the interstate in the area of Mt. Pleasant Road.

According to current information, 57-year-old Latonya Kizart and 55-year-old Garland Kizart were in a Lexus that was traveling eastbound on I-40. Traffic reportedly slowed along the interstate, but semi-truck apparently did not slow down in time. As a result, it crashed into the back of the Kizarts' Lexus, pushing it into multiple vehicles ahead.

As a result of the collision, Latonya Kizart succumbed to fatal injuries. Garland Kizart had unspecified injuries. It's unclear how many others may have been hurt due to the crash.

Right now, details suggest that the driver of the truck that hit traffic will face charges, however the exact details have not yet been confirmed by authorities. Investigations are ongoing.
