Sebastian Leith II Killed in Hit-and-run Accident in Beaumont, TX

Beaumont, TX — August 12, 2023, Sebastian Leith II sustained fatal injuries due to an apparent hit-and-run accident at around 1:46 a.m. on Phelan Boulevard.

Investigators said in preliminary statements that the incident took place along the 4700 block of Phelan Boulevard just off Kennedy Drive and Caldwood Drive at Calder Avenue.

According to officials, 39-year-old Sebastian Lieth was in an Acura going westbound along Phelan. While doing so, due to events not currently clear, police say a gold SUV crashed with Lieth's Acura as the SUV turned onto Calder. This caused Lieth's vehicle to overturn.

As a result of the crash, Lieth succumbed to fatal injuries. There were no other reported injuries. Authorities say that the SUV driver fled the scene of the accident but later went to the police station. Potential charges are unclear at this time.
