Pedestrian Killed in Trash Truck Accident off Congress Avenue in Austin, TX

Austin, TX — August 11, 2023, a pedestrian was killed as the result of a trash truck accident early Friday along South Congress Avenue.

Authorities with the Austin Police Department said they were called out to a parking lot along the 300 block of South Congress Avenue, just off Riverside Drive, at approximately 3:30 a.m.

It appears from initial statements that a person was in the parking lot at the time and on foot. Authorities only identify the victim as an adult. Somehow, a trash truck moving through the lot ran over that person. Due to this, the unidentified victim succumbed to fatal injuries.

Currently, there are no reported charges or citations. There does not appear to be anyone else hurt due to the incident. Investigations are said to be ongoing.
