Ja’Vion West, 1 Killed, 2 Injured in Tractor Accident on F.M. 1985 in Chambers County, TX

UPDATE (August 25, 2023): One of the victims in the crash was identified publicly as 18-year-old Ja'Vion West. Others were named in the media, however the names of minors won't be published here. Additional details about the accident appear to remain under investigation.

Chambers County, TX — August 12, 2023, two were killed and two were injured following a tractor accident late Saturday along Whites Ranch Road.

Current information says that the fatal collision took place near Easy Bay Bayou west of the F.M. 1985 (Whites Ranch Road) and Highway 124 intersection.

It appears Chambers County Sheriff's Deputies were called to the area about a vehicle traveling away from High Island. Officials say they believe that vehicle turned off Highway 124 onto F.M. 1985 and continued some distance in that direction. For reasons unclear, the vehicle ended up crashing with a tractor that was hauling farm equipment along the roadway. The car then caught fire.

As a result of the collision, two people in the vehicle that hit the tractor died. Two others were sent to area hospitals, one of them via helicopter. At this time, the victims have not been publicly identified. There are no additional details that can be confirmed pending further investigations.
