Diana Ptomey, Joyce Ptomey Killed in Truck Accident in St. Joseph, MO

St. Joseph, MO — August 10, 2023, Diana Ptomey and Joyce Ptomey were killed due to a semi-truck accident at around 9:00 a.m. along Interstate 229.

Authorities with the Missouri Highway Patrol and local authorities were called to the area of the I-229 and Highway 36 interchange.

According to officials, Diana L. Ptomey and Joyce L. Ptomey were in a pickup that was traveling northbound along the interstate. While on the ramp to Highway 36, investigators say that a semi-truck somehow crashed into the back of the pickup, pushing it into a dump truck also on the ramp. This pinned the pickup between the two trucks and also pushed the dump truck into a boom truck.

As a result of the collision, both Diana Ptomey and Joyce Ptomey sustained fatal injuries. The driver of the pickup, unidentified at this time, had apparently serious injuries. There were no other confirmed injuries. At this time, the cause of the crash remains unclear.
