James Shade, Donald Molander, Kimberly Molander, Miranda Molander, Dane Molander Killed in RV, 18-wheeler Accident on I-81 in Franklin County, PA
Franklin County, PA — August 9, 2023, five people were killed as the result of an 18-wheeler accident that happened late Wednesday on I-81.
Preliminary details about the crash from Pennsylvania State Police say the crash took place in the Greene Township area near Lincoln Way (U.S. 30).

According to officials, Donald Molander, Kimberly Molander, Miranda Molander, and Dane Molander, all from Middletown, were said to be in an RV with a trailer that was going southbound along the interstate. It appears that a tire blowout caused the RV to lose control and veer left across the median. The RV went past the cable barrier and into northbound lanes where it crashed head-on with an 18-wheeler driven by James Shade.
As a result of the crash, all four Molanders and Shade succumbed to fatal injuries. A dog involved in the wreck was also killed, reports say. Right now, authorities have not said if they're investigating the cause of the blowout. Investigations are ongoing.
