Yelena Gervolskaya Killed in Hit-and-run Truck Accident on Shell Road in Brooklyn, NY

Brooklyn, New York — August 4, 2023, Yelena Gervolskaya was killed following a dump truck hit-and-run accident at around 10:30 a.m. along Shell Road.

Investigators were called out to the three-way intersection of Shell Road, West 6th Street, and Shore Parkway in the area of the Coney Island Rail Yard.

According to officials, 75-year-old Yelena Gervolskaya was walking and attempted to go across W. 6th. While doing so, surveillance video apparently shows a dump truck hitting Gervolskaya, followed by a black Jeep. It appears both vehicles left the scene of the accident.

As a result of the collision, Gervolskaya sustained fatal injuries. Authorities say at this time that she was in the crosswalk when the collision occurred. Right now, neither driver appears to be identified or in custody. Investigations are ongoing.
