Matthew Lawson Killed, Ruben Anzaldua Injured in 18-wheeler Accident in Centerville, TX

Leon County, TX — August 9, 2023, Matthew Lawson was killed and Ruben Anzaldua was injured after an 18-wheeler accident at 12:10 a.m. on Interstate 45.

Preliminary information about the crash released in the news says that it took place just south of Centerville along the southbound lanes of I-45.

According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, 34-year-old Matthew Lawson and 57-year-old Ruben Anzaldua were in an 18-wheeler that was going southbound on I-45. For reasons which cannot be confirmed at this time, the 18-wheeler traveled off the side of the road. There, the 18-wheeler then overturned.

As a result of the accident, Lawson sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. Anzaldua was taken to a Tyler hospital for apparently serious injuries. Right now, there are no further confirmed details surrounding the fatal wreck. Investigations continue.
