Idaho Falls Man, Woman Killed in Truck Accident on I-15 near Chubbuck, ID

Bannock County, ID — August 9, 2023, an Idaho Falls man and woman were killed following a semi-truck accident on I-15 at around 2:00 p.m.

Authorities with the Idaho State Police were called to the stretch of Interstate 15 north of Chubbuck near Fort Hall for a multi-vehicle crash along southbound lanes.

According to officials, traffic along the interstate was slowing at the time for unspecified reasons. In that slowing traffic, it appears a dump truck crashed into at least three vehicles. As a result of this collision, a 23-year-old Idaho Falls man and a 26-year-old woman also from Idaho Falls both sustained injuries that proved to be fatal. Reports have yet to identify the victims.

Details in the news also suggest that the truck driver involved had unspecified injuries. It does not appear that any other occupants involved in the crash had injuries requiring transport to a hospital. Right now, there is no specific cause for the crash that's been confirmed. Investigations continue.
