Lilia Jasmin Barajas, Children Killed in Truck Accident in Wichita, KS

Wichita, KS — August 8, 2023, Lilia Jasmin Barajas and two children were killed following a semi-truck accident at around 10:35 a.m. on U.S. 54.

Authorities said that the accident happened in the area of U.S. Highway 54 mile marker 136 outside of Pratt.

According to officials, 32-year-old Lilia Jasmin Barajas and two children were in a Nissan Kicks that was going westbound along the highway. They were in a construction zone at the time where a tractor-trailer ahead was stopped due to a flagger. The Nissan somehow crashed into the commercial truck.

As a result of the collision, Barajas and both children sustained fatal injuries. It's unclear if anyone else had injuries due to the crash. Investigations from Kansas Highway Patrol officials continue to investigate the crash.
