Christopher Scott Talley, Shannon Nickole Crawford Killed in 18-wheeler Accident on I-30 in Royse City, TX

UPDATE (August 14, 2023): Officials identified the victims killed in the accident as 35-year-old Christopher Scott Talley and 36-year-old Shannon Nickole Crawford. Right now, there are suggestions that a tire failure may have led to the crash, however this has not been confirmed. The incident is still under investigation.

Royse City, TX — August 7, 2023, two people were killed as the result of an 18-wheeler accident early Monday along Interstate 30.

Authorities with the Royse City Police Department reported that the crash happened in the area of I-30 and F.M. 35 at approximately 8:30 a.m.

Currently, the cause of the crash remains unclear. Authorities said only that an 18-wheeler appeared to be going eastbound on the interstate when it somehow lost control. This led to the 18-wheeler going into oncoming traffic where it collided with at least three other passenger vehicles.

Due to the collision, one of the vehicles hit by the 18-wheeler caught fire. As a result, two people from that vehicle succumbed to fatal injuries. Authorities have not yet released the victims' names. It's currently unclear if anyone else was hurt. Authorities have not yet confirmed a cause for the crash, and no charges or citations have been reported pending further investigations.
