Brian Scott Stankus Killed in Dump Truck Accident on Interstate 26 in Spartanburg, SC

Spartanburg, SC — July 31, 2023, Brian Scott Stankus was killed in a dump truck crash on Interstate 26 near mile marker 23 in Spartanburg, SC.

Authorities say that on July 31, a collision occurred when, for unknown reasons, an eastbound dump truck suddenly drove to the other side of Interstate 26 and crashed into a tree. Sources say the accident happened sometime after 5:00 p.m. in Spartanburg.

Investigators have not determined the cause of the accident but confirmed that the dump truck driver, Brian Scott Stankus, 52, suffered fatal injuries in the crash. No other injuries were reported. No further information has been released.

The investigation into the crash is ongoing.
