One Killed in Semi-Truck Accident near Dell Rapids, SD

Dell Rapids, SD — August 5, 2023, a person was killed in a semi-truck collision at 474th Avenue and 242nd Street near Dell Rapids, SD.

Authorities indicate that on August 5, an accident occurred when a Ford pickup and a semi-truck collided north of Dell Rapids. According to reports, a Ford pickup traveling northbound suddenly crossed the center lane line into traffic in the opposite direction. The pickup reportedly entered the path of an oncoming semi-truck, and the two collided at 474th Avenue and 242nd Street. Sources say the two vehicles burst into flames at the scene.

Officials confirmed the Ford pickup driver, a 47-year-old whose name has not been released, suffered fatal injuries in the crash. The semi-truck driver escaped the crash with minor injuries.

The cause of the collision is under investigation.
