UPDATE (August 14, 2023): Authorities have said at this time that the truck driver involved in the accident will face charges for accident involving serious bodily injury. Right now, no further information is available.

Karyme Garza Killed in 18-wheeler Hit-and-run Accident in McAllen, TX

McAllen, TX — August 4, 2023, one person sustained injuries as the result of an 18-wheeler accident at around 10:00 a.m. along Tamarack Avenue.

Preliminary information about the accident says that it occurred along the 1000 block of Tamarack Avenue, which is near the intersection of North 10th Street.

According to authorities, it appears that a collision occurred along Tamarack Avenue involving an 18-wheeler and a motorcycle. The exact cause of that collision is not clear at this time. Authorities allege that the tractor-trailer driver then fled the scene on foot, however it appears that person was detained by authorities.

The motorcyclist, an unidentified woman, was reportedly taken to a hospital for "evaluation." Her current condition is not clear right now. Details about the truck driver and any potential pending charges are also unclear.
