11 Injured in YMCA Bus Accident on Highway 55 near Banks, ID

Boise County, ID — August 4, 2023, eleven were injured following a YMCA bus accident at around 3:00 p.m. along Idaho Highway 55.

Preliminary information about the crash says that it occurred north of Banks and south of Smiths Ferry along Highway 55.

Right now, the exact cause of the accident remains under investigation. It appears that a YMCA bus was carrying roughly 30 passengers at the time. They were traveling from Horsethief Reservoir to Boise following a summer camp. As the bus traveled down the highway, for reasons unclear, it lost control and overturned. Details suggest another YMCA bus also crashed, however it's unclear if anyone on that bus was hurt.

Due to the rollover crash, reports say eleven people were taken to the hospital. Seven of the victims reportedly had serious injuries. The current conditions of the victims are not clear at this time. Authorities continue to investigate the cause of the crash.
