Two Killed in Motorcycle, Truck Accident on U.S. 24 in Monroe County, MI

Monroe County, MI — August 5, 2023, two people were killed due to a motorcycle versus semi-truck accident at around 12:35 a.m. along Route 8.

Authorities said in their initial statements that the crash happened in the Ash Township area south of the intersection with Interstate 275.

According to officials, a 46-year-old Carleton man and a 46-year-old woman from Ohio were on a motorcycle that was reportedly traveling along U.S. Highway 24. As they traveled, statements say a semi-truck turned onto the highway, following which the motorcycle crashed into the truck. This ejected both riders.

As a result of the collision, both the Carleton man and the Ohio woman sustained fatal injuries. There were no other confirmed injuries. At this time, authorities have not yet confirmed an exact cause for the crash. Factors leading up to the incident are still under investigation.
