Jose Andres Almazan Killed in Single-Vehicle Accident on I-45 at Almeda Genoa in Houston, TX

UPDATE (August 7, 2023): According to public information from Harris County officials, the man killed in the accident was Jose Almazan. Right now, though, there are no new details about the accident. Investigations continue.

Houston, TX — August 3, 2023, a driver sustained fatal injuries following a single-vehicle car accident at around 3:20 a.m. along the Gulf Freeway.

Authorities with the Houston Police Department said they were called to the area of the Almeda Mall along the I-45 service off the corner of Almeda Genoa Road and Shaver Street.

At this time, details say the incident involved a single Buick LaCrosse that was traveling southeast along the freeway service road. While doing so, that vehicle somehow lost control and ran off-road. There, the vehicle crashed into a pole, resulting in significant damage to the vehicle.

The driver of the Buick sustained fatal injuries as a result of the crash. No one else appeared to have been involved. Police have yet to confirm a cause for the crash. Investigations are ongoing at this time.
