Daruisz Zalewski Killed in Tow Truck Accident in Bensenville, IL

Bensenville, IL — July 31, 2023, Daruisz Zalewski was killed as the result of an alleged tow truck hit-and-run accident at 10:00 p.m. along Irving Park Road.

Preliminary information about the accident says that it took place in the area of the Irving Park Road and Walnut Avenue intersection.

Statements from officials indicate that 46-year-old Daruisz Zalewski was on a motorcycle that had been going eastbound on Irving Park. From the westbound lane, authorities say a tow truck made a left turn, crashing with Zalewski. That tow truck then reportedly went into a parking lot before getting back on the road and leaving the scene.

Zalewski was thrown from his bike due to the collision. He sustained what proved to be fatal injuries. Authorities said they were able to locate and arrest who they believe to be the driver of the tow truck involved in the fatal collision. That driver is said to be facing charges for leaving the scene of a fatal accident. The incident is still under investigation.
