Veronica Cordova, Dante David, Miranda Rendon, Tailar Matthews Killed, 2 Injured in Fiery Car Accident on I-35 in Austin, TX

UPDATE (August 30, 2023): Further information made public by authorities identifies the victims killed in the car accident. Those victims were 50-year-old Veronica De La Cruz Cordova, 27-year-old Dante David, 26-year-old Miranda Rendon, and 26-year-old Tailar Matthews. All were said to be occupants of the Nissan Rogue which police say was struck by the Lincoln sedan. Most recent available information still alleges that the Lincoln driver was intoxicated at the time of the accident. Investigations to confirm those allegations are ongoing.

UPDATE (August 4, 2023): According to recent information from Austin Police officials, an arrest has been made in connection with the fatal crash. They say that a 35-year-old man driving a sedan crashed into an SUV, then fled the scene. Authorities reportedly arrested the man shortly after the crash, and they have charged him with multiple counts of intoxication manslaughter and failure to stop and render aid. Details about the victims remain unavailable at this time as investigations continue.

Austin, TX — July 30, 2023, four people were killed and two were injured after a fiery car accident at around 2:30 a.m. along I-35.

According to information released by the Austin-Travis County EMS department, the incident took place at approximately 2:32 a.m. along the I-35 frontage road off the corner of Shelby Lane, right outside the Toyota dealership.

It appears from current statements that the crash involved two vehicles which somehow collided along the service road. As a result, one of the vehicles overturned and burst into flames. Due to the crash, at least four people are reported dead. Two others had injuries which the news described as non-life-threatening.

Right now, the exact cause of the crash remains unclear, and authorities have yet to publicly identify anyone involved in the crash. Investigations are ongoing.
