Jonathan Perez Killed, Yohan Manuel Sandoval Injured in Car Accident in Forney, TX

UPDATE (August 23, 2023): Further information from authorities identified the driver of the Volkswagen as 40-year-old Yohan Sandoval. Sandoval reportedly sustained incapacitating injuries in the crash. Right now, additional details are still under investigation.

Forney, TX — July 23, 2023, Jonathan Perez was killed and one person was injured as the result of a car accident at 2:33 a.m. along U.S. Highway 80.

Investigators said they were called out to the eastbound lanes of U.S. 80 approximately half a mile west of town.

According to initial details, 33-year-old Jonathan Perez was in a Cadillac CTS traveling along the highway. Current information suggests the Cadillac may have been going the wrong way against eastbound traffic. While doing so, it apparently collided with a Volkswagen Passat.

As a result of the collision, Perez sustained injuries which ultimately proved fatal. One person from the Volkswagen had what appeared to be non-life-threatening injuries, officials say. Currently, there are no additional details about the crash available. Authorities have yet to confirm factors leading up to the accident pending further investigations.
