Luz Aurora Casado, Ma Guadalupe Casados Zavala, Child Killed, 1 Injured in Possible Drunk Driving Accident on South Jackson Road in Edinburg, TX

UPDATE (July 26, 2023): Authorities identified the victims involved in the crash. The adults were identified as 50-year-old Luz Aurora Casado and 68-year-old Ma Casados Zavala (also identified by other sources as Maria Guadalupe Zavala Casado). Charges are still pending. Right now, additional details are unavailable.

Edinburg, TX — July 24, 2023, three people were killed and one was injured after a possible drunk driving accident at 9:14 p.m. on South Jackson Road.

According to information about the crash, the incident happened in the 2200 block of South Jackson Road, between West Canton Road and West Freddy Gonzalez Drive.

Authorities in initial statements said that a 50-year-old woman, a 68-year-old woman, a 10-year-old girl, and a young girl were in a minivan that was going southbound along Jackson. Details say that a black truck "veered into the southbound lane," resulting in a collision with the minivan.

As a result of the collision, both adult women and the 2-year-old child sustained fatal injuries. The 10-year-old girl is said to be in critical condition in most recent reports. Police at this time allege that the driver of the truck was drunk at the time of the crash. However, this has yet to be confirmed, and no charges have been reported at this time.
