Mary Cooper, Janet Carter Kenneybrew, Koolasha Green, Teen Killed in Truck Accident in Powderly, TX

UPDATE (July 25, 2023): Sources which initially identified only three victims killed in the crash have clarified that a fourth person lost their life due to the fatal truck accident. That person was identified as Koolasha U. Green of Hugo, Oklahoma. Green was said to be a passenger in the vehicle with Mary Cooper, Janet Carter Kenneybrew, and the teenager who were also killed in the crash. Right now, there are still no additional details concerning possible charges or citations.

Powderly, TX — July 21, 2023, Mary Cooper, Janet Carter Kenneybrew, and a teenager were killed after a semi-truck accident at 10:55 a.m. along U.S. 271.

Investigators said that the incident took place along the southbound lanes of U.S. Highway 271 at the intersection of F.M. 2648.

According to officials, the incident occurred as Mary Cooper, Janet Carter Kenneybrew, and a 16-year-old boy were in a Toyota Highlander that was going southbound along the highway. At the F.M. 2648 intersection, police say that a Peterbilt semi-truck going westbound failed to yield crossing onto the highway. Doing so, it collided with the Toyota.

As a result of the collision, Cooper, Carter Kenneybrew, and the teen passenger all sustained fatal injuries. It does not appear that anyone else was hurt due to the crash. Right now, it's unclear if any charges or citations are being considered. Authorities have yet to release additional details pending their investigations.
