Inez Armando Castro Injured in Truck Accident on U.S. 87 near San Angelo, TX

UPDATE (August 15, 2023): Recent information from officials identifies the motorcyclist injured in the accident as Inez Armando Castro. Authorities mentioned defective brakes as a possible factor in the crash, though details can't be confirmed right now.

Tom Green County, TX — July 12, 2023, one person was injured due to a motorcycle versus truck accident outside San Angelo along U.S. Highway 87.

Investigators with the Texas Department of Public Safety say they were called out to a stretch of U.S. 87 near Grape Creek. Their statements indicate that a motorcyclist was traveling southbound along the inside lane of travel. Ahead, it appears a utility truck in the outside southbound lane swerved "to avoid a crash." Doing so, the truck entered the path of the motorcyclist, and the motorcycle crashed with the truck.

The motorcycle rider was thrown from the bike. As a result, they sustained injuries believed to be non-life-threatening. It does not appear there were any other injuries. Details about why the truck swerved are not clear at this time. It's also unclear if there are any pending charges or citations. Investigations are ongoing at this time.
