The two victims identified by officials were 39-year-old Byron Obannon and 40-year-old Amy Obannon. Their injuries were described as incapacitating. New Braunfels, TX — July 9, 2023, Jose Medrano Perez was killed and three were injured in an alleged intoxicated driving accident at 2:40 p.m. on Highway 46.
Preliminary details about the fatal accident show that it happened in the area of the Highway 46 West and T-Bar-M Drive intersection.

According to officials, the incident happened as a Ford Explorer was going along the roadway. 51-year-old Jose Medrano Perez was reportedly a passenger in that vehicle. Somehow, the Ford and a Honda Pilot collided with one another.
Medrano Perez sustained fatal injuries as a result of the crash. Injured were a 40-year-old woman, a 12-year-old boy, a 9-year-old boy, and another adult. The woman and the 12-year-old apparently had serious injuries.
Right now, authorities allege that the crash involved a 16-year-old Mexican national who they allege showed signs of intoxication. That teen driver may now face charges for intoxication manslaughter. No further information can be confirmed at this time.
