Saul Marquez Killed, Christopher Rodriguez, 1 Injured in Car Accident on U.S. 90 in Houston, TX

UPDATE (September 14, 2023): Further details released by authorities identified the driver of the Dodge Ram as 23-year-old Christopher Rodriguez. Rodriguez was reportedly driving the Dodge in which Saul Marquez was a passenger. Right now, there are no additional details about pending charges against the allegedly intoxicated driver of the Chevy Equinox.

UPDATE (June 30, 2023): More recent information about the crash shows that the driver believed to be at fault for the wreck is facing charges for intoxication manslaughter and possibly murder. Details right now suggest that a driver rear-ended the truck in which 22-year-old Saul Marquez was a passenger. This caused the truck to veer off-road and into a pillar. Marquez died as a result. The driver that rear-ended the truck is accused of driving while under the influence of alcohol. Details surrounding these charges are still under investigation at this time.

Houston, TX — June 26, 2023, Saul Marquez was killed and two people were injured following a car accident at around 10:15 a.m. along U.S. Highway 90.

According to initial details from the authorities, the incident happened at 11501 U.S. Highway 90.

Authorities at this time say that 22-year-old Saul Marquez was in a Dodge Ram 1500 that was traveling along the southbound lanes of the highway. Due to a series of events not entirely clear at this time, it appears that the Dodge and a Chevy Equinox that was also traveling southbound collided with each other. As a result, the Dodge ran off-road where it crashed into a pillar along the median.

Due to the crash, Marquez sustained fatal injuries. The driver of the Dodge, an unidentified 47-year-old woman, was taken to a hospital. The 23-year-old man reportedly driving the Chevy also went to a hospital. Their conditions weren't specified. Right now, the factors surrounding the crash are still under investigation.
