Jonathan Andrew Smith Killed in Tesla, Water Truck Accident on Loop 1604 in Bexar County, TX

UPDATE (August 15, 2023): According to recent information from authorities, the man injured in the crash succumbed to fatal injuries. Details identified the victim as 26-year-old Jonathan Andrew Smith. The truck driver involved apparently had non-incapacitating injuries. Currently, additional information about the crash itself cannot be confirmed pending further investigations.

Bexar County, TX — June 27, 2023, a driver was injured as the result of a commercial truck accident early Tuesday along Loop 1604.

Investigators with the Bexar County Sheriff's Department said the incident took place in the area of the Loop 1604 and Highway 87 intersection, east of San Antonio.

According to officials, a Tesla was traveling along Loop 1604 at the time. Due to a series of events which is not clear at this time, the Tesla crashed with a commercial water truck. As a result of this collision, the driver of the Tesla sustained injuries said to be critical. There were no other injuries reported.

Currently, there is no indication of pending charges or citations. Authorities did not mention details surrounding road conditions, vehicle conditions or speeds, or the possible involvement of other drivers. Investigations are ongoing at this time.
