Bicyclist Killed in Garbage Truck Accident on Flagler Street in Miami, FL

Miami, FL — May 31, 2023, one person was killed as the result of a bicycle versus garbage truck accident at around 8:00 a.m. on Flagler Street.

According to initial details made public by Miami Police Department officials, the incident occurred in the area of Flagler Street and 8th Avenue between NW 1st and SW 1st.

Investigators at this time say that the cyclist was traveling in the roadway and somehow crossed paths with a garbage truck. Authorities did not give the directions of the vehicles nor did they say who had the right-of-way. The two collided along Flagler.

As a result of the collision, the cyclist succumbed to fatal injuries. No other injuries were reported, and it does not appear anyone else was involved in the collision. Right now, no charges or citations are being reported. Investigations are ongoing.
