Illean West Mikesh Injured in Truck Accident in Gonzales County, TX

Authorities said that 85-year-old Illean West Mikesh was the driver of a Mercury Grand Marquis traveling southbound along the highway. Mikesh slowed to make a turn onto C.R. 157, police say, but an 18-wheeler behind Mikesh allegedly did not slow down in time. As a result, the 18-wheeler crashed into Mikesh's Mercury.

Mikesh was said to have incapacitating injuries as a result of the collision. It appears there were no other injuries. Police suggest that inattention may have been a factor in the crash, and there was a recommendation that the truck driver be charged for failure to control speed. Additional details about official charges at this time are unavailable.
