Adults, Children Injured in 18-wheeler Accident on Schaefer Road in Detroit, MI

Detroit, MI — May 25, 2023, adults and children were injured following an 18-wheeler accident at around 1:00 p.m. along Schaefer Road.

Authorities said that they responded to the crash scene at the intersection of Schaefer and the I-96 service road.

Their statements said that an 18-wheeler was traveling through the area when, for reasons currently unclear, the truck lost control. The semi crashed into a car, went off-road through a fence, then came to a halt on the grass embankment along main lanes of the interstate.

As a result of the collision, emergency departments reported they transported five people from the car to area hospitals. They were identified only as being three adults and two children. Their injuries were described as minor. It's unclear if anyone else was hurt. The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
