Details suggest that 34-year-old Daniel Sanchez was the driver of a Nissan Kicks that was going eastbound along U.S. 290. At the intersection of Round Top Road, police believe that an Acura going northbound failed to yield and crashed into Sanchez's vehicle.

Due to the collision, Sanchez had injuries said to be incapacitating. A 9-year-old child in the Nissan was said to have non-incapacitating injuries. No other injuries were confirmed. Authorities suggested that the driver of the Acura may have been under the influence of alcohol at the time of the crash. That driver may have a pending charge for intoxication manslaughter. Details cannot be confirmed pending further investigations.
