Two Injured in Alleged Drunk Driver Accident on Highway 24 in Delta County, TX

Delta County, TX — May 23, 2023, two people sustained injuries as the result of an alleged drunk driver accident at 11:00 a.m. on Highway 24.

Investigators said the incident occurred at the intersection of Highway 24 North and F.M. 198, which appears to be northeast of the town of Cooper.

According to Delta County Sheriff's Office representatives, the incident happened as two vehicles traveling along the roadway somehow crossed paths and collided with one another. As a result of the collision, two people, not identified at this time, were taken to a hospital via helicopter. Their exact conditions are not specified at this time.

Sheriff's officials stated that one of the drivers was allegedly under the influence of alcohol at the time of the crash. That driver currently faces charges for intoxication assault with a vehicle causing serious bodily injury. No further information can be confirmed at this time pending further investigations.
