Tira Hanchor, Ekar Hanchor, Teen Killed, 2 Injured in Semi-Truck Accident on I-15 in Weber County, UT

UPDATE (May 30, 2023): Reports identified two of the victims involved in the truck accident. They were 70-year-old Tira Hanchor and 64-year-old Ekar Hanchor. The third victim killed in the crash was a 17-year-old. That person and the two injured in the crash have not been publicly identified. Right now, additional details about the crash are unavailable.

Weber County, UT — May 24, 2023, three people were killed and two others were injured following a semi-truck accident at around 3:00 a.m. along I-15.

Authorities with the Utah Department of Transportation reported that the crash happened along northbound lanes of the interstate in the area of the State Route 134 intersection near Farr West.

Initial statements about the fatal crash say that it involved a vehicle going northbound on the interstate when it apparently struck a deer. That vehicle stopped along the roadway, but authorities said they think its lights may have been off at the time. While the vehicle was on the road without its lights on, a semi-truck crashed into the vehicle.

As a result of that collision, three people that were in the disabled vehicle sustained fatal injuries. Two others in the vehicle were said to be in critical condition and were taken to a hospital. No other injuries were confirmed in reports. At this time, the circumstances surrounding the accident remain under investigation.
