Chequita Smith Killed in Bus Accident on I-90 in Tonawanda, NY

Tonawanda, NY — May 17, 2023, Chequita Smith was killed in a rollover transit bus accident around 6 a.m. on I-190 in Tonawanda.

According to officials, Ms. Smith was a passenger on a bus that was traveling on an interchange from I-90 South to I-290 East when it somehow overturned.

Chequita Smith suffered fatal injuries. The bus driver and the only other passenger reportedly suffered non-life-threatening injuries.

There are no further updates at this time.
