Ofelia Ramirez Morales, Infant, One Killed, Agustin Quintero & 11-Year-Old Injured in Car Accident in Bastrop County, TX

Bastrop County, TX — April 23, 2023, Ofelia Ramirez Morales, an infant, and another were killed, and Agustin Quintero and an 11-year-old were injured in a car crash around 1 a.m. on F.M. 812 in Bastrop County.

Authorities report Ms. Ramirez Morales, Mr. Quintero, and the two children were westbound in a Toyota Tundra while Mr. Manuel Selwin Campos was eastbound in a Chevy Silverado before the collision.

Mr. Campos allegedly failed to maintain his lane and entered the westbound lane and collided with the Tundra head-on. The impact was purportedly most on each vehicle's driver-side and this resulted in both vehicles spinning away from one another.

Officials report the Toyota Tundra rotated counter-clockwise and came to a stop facing south, perpendicular to the road in the westbound lanes. The Silverado reportedly rotated into the southside metal guardrail, rebounded back into the road, rolled over, and caught fire. The cab of the Silverado allegedly detached from the frame of the truck and came to a stop facing south, perpendicular to the road in the eastbound lanes.

In the Toyota Tundra, Ofelia Ramirez Morales and an infant suffered fatal injuries, and Agustin Quintero and an 11-year-old suffered incapacitating injuries.

Authorities have not released the toxicology results of either driver.
