Mersaydez Jenkins Killed, Children Hurt in Car Accident in La Marque, TX

Galveston County, TX — May 22, 2023, Mersaydez Jenkins was killed and children were injured following a single-vehicle accident at 11:30 p.m. on I-45.

Preliminary details about the wreck from Galveston County Sheriff's Office investigators say that the crash happened in the area of the Gulf Freeway and F.M. 1765 intersection. They say it appears that the crash was a single-vehicle wreck.

According to statements, 26-year-old Mersaydez Jenkins and four children with ages from 3 to 7 years old were in an SUV that was going along the freeway. For reasons which are currently unclear, that vehicle somehow crashed into the center wall and off the side of the road.

It appears Jenkins was thrown from the vehicle due to the crash. Jenkins sustained injuries which ultimately proved fatal. The four children were all taken to hospitals with injuries said to be serious. No one else was reported to be injured. No further information about what caused the crash is available at this time.
