Michael Remus Killed, Julie Remus Injured in Truck Accident in Dallas County, IA

Dallas County, IA — May 22, 2023, Michael Remus was killed and Julie Remus was injured after a concrete truck accident at around 9:45 a.m. on Highway 44.

Preliminary details about the crash provided by authorities say that the incident happened in the area of Dallas Center.

Authorities suggested that 69-year-old Michael Remus and 65-year-old Julie Remus were in a vehicle that was traveling along Highway 44. It appears they slowed due to traffic. While doing so, however, police say that a concrete truck did not slow down in time and crashed into the back of the Remuses' vehicle.

As a result of the collision, Michael Remus sustained fatal injuries. Julie Remus was said to have injuries that weren't serious. The truck driver did not have any reported injuries, and no others were reportedly involved in the accident. Right now, it's unclear if authorities are considering charges or citations. Investigations are ongoing.
