Happy Ann Mardis Martinez Injured in Truck Accident in Plano, TX

Plano, TX — May 11, 2023, Happy Ann Mardis Martinez was injured as the result of a semi-truck accident at around 7:52 a.m. along U.S. 75.

Investigators said that the crash happened in the area of the Central Expressway and Ruisseau Drive, just north of Parker Road.

According to officials, 46-year-old Happy Ann Mardis Martinez was the driver of a Kia Optima that was going southbound along the Central Expressway. Authorities said that traffic along southbound lanes slowed, so Mardis Martinez's vehicle and the vehicle ahead of her slowed in turn. Behind Mardis Martinez, though, it appears a semi-truck did not slow down in time, rear-ending the Kia.

As a result of the collision, Mardis Martinez had injuries described as incapacitating. It appears there were no other injuries resulting from the crash. Currently, police say the cause of the crash may have been the truck driver reaching down to get something while approaching the slowing traffic. It's unconfirmed at this time if charges or citations were officially issued. No further information is currently available.
